Performing Grapefruit is a series of three durational performances based on written scores from Yoko Ono’s 1962 book Grapefruit. Presented as part of Music of the Mind, Ono’s retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, with Mue Wu on January 13 and February 3, and Terry Sofianos Wohlgenant on February 14, 2026.

Rooted in attention, presence, and the poetic simplicity of Ono's instructions, these performances were inspired by the radical spirit of her event scores. Visitors were invited to witness duration as an artistic material, and participate in its unfolding.
